About

Daniel Ariza is a Colombian artist. He holds a master's degree in Plastic, Electronic and Time Arts (MAPET) from Los Andes University, as well as a degree in psychology from the National University of Colombia. His artistic work delves into the exploration of human experience, perception, altered states of consciousness, with a particular focus on light as his medium of expression.

Through light, as well as other media such as photography, video, installation and sound, Daniel reflects on the relationship between nature and the human being, the limits of perception, and the capacity of art to induce deep psychological and emotional states. With a background in psychology, Daniel has been inspired by Jungian and transpersonal psychology, believing that art is a powerful tool to facilitate spiritual and sublime experiences, essential for human well-being. His connection to art originated in 2019 when he had an epiphany while witnessing a work of light art that transported him to a state of awe and connection to a world that transcends everyday perception.

In his work, light becomes a language that reveals the beauty in nature and challenges the limitations of habitual perception. His often immersive installations guide viewers into a meditative and captivating state, where the contemplation of light and nature becomes a sensory and spiritual journey. Daniel invites viewers to rediscover the wonder in the everyday and to appreciate the magnificence of the natural world, encouraging them to explore new dimensions of reality and to connect more deeply with the environment.

Throughout his career, he has participated in local group exhibitions and has been recognized for artistic projects. He currently devotes all his time to his artistic practice and resides in Bogotá, Colombia.
