Numinous II (2023)
Numinous is an immersive installation that immerses visitors in an environment of light, color and contemplation, challenging the limits of human perception. The work explores the relationship between the materiality of light and sensory experience, linking them to the sublime, the transcendent and the intangible.
Upon entering the space, visitors are immersed in a foggy atmosphere in which rays of light, emanating from technological devices, fill the space and materialize in three-dimensional geometries that impose their presence in an architectural manner. These forms, although intangible, configure an environment dominated by geometric motifs that have been used throughout time and by various cultures as symbols of the transcendent. More than a visual illusion, Numinous proposes a space where light is perceived in an expanded form, as an object that has mass and occupies a place.
The installation puts technology, geometric motifs and light in dialogue to create an environment that invites contemplation and recognition of the transcendent. The environment is complemented by a sound composition that induces a state of introspection and reverie through binaural pulses and drones. Numinous invites the visitor not only to observe, but to walk through and immerse himself in a space that reveals an enigmatic dimension of light.
"Numinous II" is an immersive installation that emerges as a new version of "Numinous", first presented in 2021. In its original version, the work focused on the convergence of light, fog and sound to create a contemplative and ethereal space. This new iteration seeks to take the exploration of the materiality of light a step further.
The installation, commissioned especially for the Candy Flip Festival in Colombia in 2023, presents a more immersive experience that incorporates movements in the light beams and abstract forms that resemble fluids. Color is played with more prominently and the shapes created from the light beams are even larger, fully immersing the viewer in the work.
For this, in collaboration with the Yisus Art Company team, a 6 x 8 meter room completely clad in black was designed and built. This architectural structure was carefully conceived to facilitate the strategic distribution of light beams, completely enveloping the viewers and allowing the creation of new interior spaces from light beams.
